As founder and chairman of the London Society of Regional Anaesthesia Rafael has been passionately involved in the development and spread of regional anaesthesia at national and international levels.  He has been promoting the use of ultrasound anaesthesia and he organizes one of the biggest workshops in the United Kingdom. He has also developed an online logbook to organize and analyze data.  One of his main interests are the CUSUM learning curves creating a domain where anaesthetists can collect and analyze their own performance (www.anesthesialogbook.com).
Apart from writing chapters for several books at present he likes to relax and sharing a cup of coffee close to a nice fire.
